Why are self-care Sundays important?
Our body helps us feel like beautiful goddesses when we learn to love and respect it, eat properly, exercise, and notice the things that are beautiful about ourselves.
You won’t shine internally if you don’t take care of yourself. Beauty comes from within, but if we don’t take care of ourselves, our inner radiance suffers. When you treat your body with love and respect, it will return the favor.
Taking care of yourself is the same as taking care of your surroundings. You have more time, energy, and love to give to those around you when you take care of yourself.
On planes, we’ve all heard that the first thing we should do is put on an oxygen mask. This is also true in life: if you don’t take care of yourself first, you won’t be able to help others.
When we allow ourselves to shine, we allow others to do the same. When you’re bright and positive, you inspire others to do the same and share love and energy.
You can do it all, but not all at once. Today’s world is full of superwomen who feel pressured to do it all: children, marriage, careers, fit bodies, beautiful homes, and good friends. Remember that you can accomplish all of this, but if you try to do everything right now, you may burn out.
Besides, debt in the energy sector is just as bad as debt in the financial sector. Nobody would likely advise you to take out large loans, would they? Physical energy is another resource that should be preserved. If you have an energy debt, you’ll be unable to accomplish great things in life.

Taking self-care Sundays seriously has lots of benefits for your health and well-being:

Improved physical health. Taking care of your physical health by engaging in activities such as exercise, healthy eating, and getting enough sleep improves your physical health and helps you avoid illnesses.
Reduced stress. Self-care on a regular basis can help you manage stress and avoid burnout.
Enhanced energy. Dedicating time each week to rest and recharge boosts your energy levels and improves your ability to tackle daily tasks.
Improved relationships. Self-care allows you to better understand and manage your emotions, which leads to better relationships.
My self-care Sundays
Let’s talk about my special self-care Sundays. It’s a day just for me, where I focus on taking care of myself and feeling good. I wanted to share with you how I spend my Sundays in a way that helps me grow and feel happy.
First, I like to sleep in a bit and wake up naturally. No loud alarms, just a peaceful start to the day. Then, I enjoy a slow and tasty breakfast, really savoring every bite. I might have pancakes or a yummy bowl of oatmeal with berries and a warm cup of coffee to go along with it.
After breakfast, I do things that make me happy. It could be reading a good book, drawing or painting, or taking a nice walk outside. I choose activities that make me feel excited and let me follow my passions.
One thing I love to do on self-care Sundays is write in my journal. I pour out my thoughts, dreams, and reflections onto the pages. It feels so good to let everything out and see how much I’ve grown and learned.
Of course, I also make time to pamper myself. I take a relaxing bubble bath with candles and soft music playing in the background. It’s like my own little spa, where I can forget about any stress and just relax.
In the afternoon, I like to spend time with my loved ones. It could be talking on the phone with a good friend or hanging out with my family. We have meaningful conversations, laugh together, and make great memories.
As the day comes to an end, I do some gentle stretching or yoga to unwind. It helps me feel calm and peaceful. And before I go to bed, I think about all the things I’m grateful for. I write down a few things that made me happy during the day. It reminds me of all the good things in my life and makes me feel content.

How to practice self-care Sundays?
First, pick a day of the month that works best for you. Make sure you don’t have any other important things to do that day. Treat it like a special appointment with yourself that you can’t miss!
Now, let’s plan for your self-care Sunday. Write down things that make you happy and relaxed. It could be reading, trying a new hobby, or going for a walk in nature.
Once you have your list, create a loose plan for your day. Decide on the order of activities and how much time you want to spend on each. You don’t have to follow the plan strictly. It’s okay to change things if you feel like it. This day is all about doing what feels good for you.

- Create a sleep time ritual by doing something relaxing (bath, reading, etc.) an hour before bedtime.
- Look through old photo albums or home videos. What better way to immerse yourself in positive vibrations than to recall happy memories? It’s a chance to forget about your worries for a moment and think about something positive.
- Take a deep breath and be present. Inhale deeply for five seconds, followed by a loud exhalation. It’s critical to breathe deeply while exhaling to help move internal energy. Turn off your thoughts for a moment so that you can be completely present.
- Watch a good movie.
- Take photos! Take your camera (or a polaroid camera like this one) and go enjoy nature or city life, imagining yourself as the best photographer on an inspiring photo hunt.
- Take a warm bath. Why not use your favorite bath products and soak yourself in a warm self-care bath for as long as you can? Your muscles are relaxed, your mind is at ease, and you feel fantastic on the inside and out. Use this time for self-reflection or simply turn yourself off. Keep your phone out of the bathroom so you aren’t tempted to check the latest gossip, and make the most of your alone time.
- Allow a professional to take care of your face.
- Turn off your computer. Mobile phones and computers can easily divert your attention away from yourself and your self-care. Nowadays, it’s possible to become too accessible to others and find it difficult to switch off. Turn off devices, ignore emails, and stop scrolling through social media posts to focus on you for a while.
- Make yourself a nice hot beverage. Take a sip of your favorite tea, coffee, or hot cocoa.
- Eat something healthy. Eat as much clean, organic food as possible. Clean food makes you shine.
- Use music to help you relax as part of your self-care Sunday routine. Music has long been used to heal both the body and the mind. It gives you the ability to express yourself in ways that words cannot. Many therapists have discovered that music therapy can help treat patients suffering from major depression.
- Find fun activities outside again, depending on the season: make snow angels, walk barefoot on dewy grass, and so on.
- Stretch to relieve tension. This exercise relieves tension in various parts of the body.
- Enjoy the sunset.
- Meditate with a candle. Light a candle at eye level. These candles are quite expensive, but they smell oh-so-good. Take a few deep breaths to release the tension in your body. Keep your eyes open and keep an eye on the candle flame. If your thoughts wander, bring them back to the candle. This is a wonderful calming exercise.
- Practice yoga. Yoga is an excellent way to spend some alone time relaxing. It benefits both your mind and body. There are numerous platforms for practicing yoga at home, such as apps, books, and online videos, that can assist you on your yoga journey.
- Read a poem or compose one of your own. Play with words and rhymes, and write down your ideas.
- Hire someone to clean your house, even if it’s only for an hour.
- Connect with nature and fill your lungs with fresh air.
- Allow the sun to shine on you on a Sunday morning.
- Open a window and let fresh air into the room. Notice how your home fills with life and fresh air.
- It’s time for Sunday self-care. Pamper yourself with a more intensive facial treatment or even a spa day. It’s obvious that the face, where stress tends to leave the most visible mark, now requires special treatment. To avoid being surprised one day to discover that your facial skin is now aging at supersonic rates, it’s critical to plan ahead for the proper care. In addition to the standard day and night creams like these ones, use deeper facial care products.
- Volunteer. Everyone has a cause they are passionate about; show your support by volunteering. A good volunteer coordinator will be able to suggest activities in which you can put your best skills to use and do useful work. It’s also a great way to meet new people with similar interests.
- Visit this exhibition that you’ve been wanting to see for a long time.
- Have a makeover. There are numerous makeup and hair tutorials available online. You can spend time experimenting with hairstyles and makeup that you wouldn’t normally wear.
- Go to your favorite cafe, order what you want, and just relax.
- Tell someone you care about something beautiful.
- Concentrate on your breathing, making sure to breathe deeply into your lower abdomen. The abdomen expands when you inhale and contracts when you exhale. Notice how calm you are.

- Get a manicure and pedicure. Of course, it’s nice to talk to a girlfriend while someone takes care of your hands and feet, but it’s also nice to relax alone and enjoy being treated.
- Have breakfast at a cafe. It may seem intimidating to request a single table in a fancy restaurant, but having breakfast in a cafe all by yourself is perfectly normal.
- Spray the room with your favorite scent or use an aroma lamp (this one’s pretty cool and affordable) with your favorite essential oil.
- Do your own manicure and pedicure on self-care Sundays. Choose your favorite nail polish (here’s an affordable set of 15 cute colors) and devote some time to a home manicure and pedicure. You can also soak your feet or use an exfoliating foot mask (these are nasty but really good!) to get silky-soft feet. Why not look for do-it-yourself reflexology guides on the internet? Reflexology is a massage technique that uses specific points on the feet to stimulate the flow of energy and release energy throughout the body.
- Make a reservation for an evening at a hotel. Relax in the jacuzzi, order room service, and watch your favorite movie.
- Order food. Order a slightly more expensive dish from a restaurant and pair it with a good drink.
- Buy yourself a special pair of shoes that you will wear on special occasions.
- Laugh, even if it’s for no reason. Your life will brighten up.
- Take a soothing bath or visit the sauna.
- Cook a small amount of cloves, cinnamon, and orange peel in 0.5 liters of water on the stove. It’ll fill your home with a pleasant aroma.
- Enjoy your favorite music. What could be more enjoyable than listening to your favorite songs? Music elevates your mood and alleviates stress. Close your eyes, turn off your worries, and simply listen to music while lying in bed or relaxing on the couch.
- Buy yourself a new lipstick (here’s a very famous lipstick that everyone is talking about) or nail polish.
- Be thankful. Make a list of the things in your life that you’re grateful for. Here’s a long gratitude list to help you out.
- Contact a friend. Take your time and make a phone call to a friend. It could be exactly what you need. You can share any problems you’re having as well as listen to your friend’s problems, which may put your concerns into perspective. Alternatively, you can escape the worry-free zone by laughing with your friend, which will make both of you happy. This is one of my favorite self-care Sunday activities.
- Make your favorite dish and set a beautiful table to enjoy it on.
- Go somewhere with a beautiful sunset view. Enjoy!
- Don’t put off responsibilities; instead, complete them and then relax.
- For dinner, buy some gourmet cheese, delicacies, and handmade pastries.
- Plant some flowers. If the weather allows you to do so, go outside into the fresh air and dive into the garden. Gardening can be a relaxing and soothing activity that doesn’t have to be stressful because you’re doing it in the fresh air.
- Art therapy. You can try a variety of art therapy activities at home to relieve stress. You can use this time to unwind and indulge in some therapeutic self-care activities. Art therapy can help with rejuvenation and stress reduction.
- Construct a vision board. Give yourself time to concentrate on your thoughts. Make a vision board to assist you in achieving your goals or dreams. The idea is to direct your energy toward what you desire. The more you concentrate on what you want, the more likely you are to achieve your goals and dreams.
- Buy a new wall hanging (this macramé one is super cute).
- Buy a new lingerie set for yourself.
- On a Sunday self-care day, enjoy your preferred form of entertainment—cinemas, theaters, art museums, and so on.
- Make a relaxing peppermint foot bath (add 4–8 drops of pure peppermint essential oil or dried peppermint leaves to a hot foot bath).
- Cucumbers are very refreshing. Place cool cucumber slices on your face and eyes, and lie down for five minutes.
- Exercise. For example, it’s best to attend yoga classes alone. Most people are there by themselves, making it easier to concentrate on their movements. However, in addition to yoga, there are several exercises that can be done alone, such as Zumba, kickboxing, and Pilates.
- Get moving, go for a walk or run. Moving is a lot of fun.

- Sign up for the training you’ve been wanting to attend for a long time.
- Practice more gratitude. Gratitude allows you to recognize how many positive aspects already exist in your life. Find a quiet place to practice gratitude at the end of each day. Consider what you should be thankful for on that particular day. What better way to end the day than to focus on the positive aspects of your life and avoid any worries that may arise?
- Keep a diary (here’s a cute diary that can be locked) and express yourself through writing. You might be interested in these fun things to write in a journal when you’re bored.
- Meditate. Meditation has numerous advantages for the mind, body, and soul. Furthermore, you can meditate for as little as 5 minutes per day and still reap significant benefits.
- Celebrate something nice, such as a lovely everyday life, or plan a fun event to invite friends to.
- On self-care Sundays, dream! Make a collage of your dreams and wishes. For your vision collage, cut out inspirational images from magazines and glue them to a large piece of paper.
- Consider getting a massage or another relaxing body treatment.
- Prepare raw juice, a nutritious smoothie, or a fresh fruit salad for yourself.
- Find your favorite nostalgic songs and listen to them.
- Clean up the mess around you. Neat surroundings have a natural sedative effect. Give away anything you don’t actually need.
- Tear the stress apart. Write down any tensions or concerns you have, then tear or burn the paper. Consider imagining how you would let go of those tensions within yourself.
- Visit museums. After you’ve walked through the art museum alone, you don’t want to go back there with anyone. When you go alone, you can spend as much time as you want on each work.
- Treat yourself to a haircut at the hairdresser once in a while.
- Binge-watch your favorite TV show or movie. Find a few hours to watch a series or a movie. It can transport you away from reality, help you forget all of your worries, and provide you with relaxation.
- Make some music.
- Make a list of what needs to be done around the house. It may not be everyone’s idea of treating oneself, but hear me out. A well-organized home fosters a well-organized mind. Think about the sense of accomplishment you will feel once you have properly cleaned up your home. Tidying up can be a great way to improve your mood and clear your mind. - Make yourself and your loved ones gifts or surprises.
- Come up with your own song.
- Use some intensive care masks instead of conditioner. True, in the spring, when the hair is tired from the winter cold, the selection of shampoo and conditioner is especially important. - Take a short nap as part of your Sunday self-care routine to prepare for the week ahead. Something as simple as a 15-20-minute nap can help you pamper yourself, and napping can also boost your brain health. Just make sure you don’t sleep too long so that your night’s sleep is not disturbed.
- Exfoliate. Don’t forget to exfoliate to remove those pesky dead skin cells that aren’t removed by scrubbing with the same shower gel. Sugar peelers like this one are especially good because they leave the skin silky smooth, like a baby’s.
- Look for a relaxation role model. Do you know anyone who lives the peaceful and balanced life you seek? Talk to them for advice and pointers on how to incorporate it into your life.
- Drink plenty of water. Water deficiency causes stress in the body. Here’s my favorite motivational water bottle that helps me stay on track with my daily water intake.
- Write a fan letter to yourself. Assume you are your biggest fan and write all of your compliments, observations, and tributes in your fan letter. Read this whenever you need to boost your self-esteem.
- Read a book. Reading a book can be a great way to log out of life and escape reality for a while, so treat yourself to a great fictional or nonfictional read. Here are some really good self-improvement book recommendations.
- Buy lovely flowers for your home or give them as a gift to a friend.
- Do some shopping. Imagine being able to walk through your favorite stores alone, with no one standing next to you threatening to begin walking away. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?
- Order a muffin or a donut from the bakery. Eat it while standing on the street and watching people go by.
- Massage your hand’s various pressure points. Massage the blade of your other hand with your fingers, pressing different points. It’s critical to focus on one area at a time to help relieve tension. This exercise is beneficial even in crowded areas because it can be done so that other people won’t notice it.
- Prepare your favorite dish. Make your favorite dish and treat yourself as if you were in a restaurant. There are numerous recipes available online to assist you in preparing your favorite restaurant food. Use your cooking time to unwind, relieve stress, and feel accomplished as you start to taste the food you’ve worked so hard to prepare.
- Buy the pricey skin care products you’ve been wanting to buy for some time now.

- Drink water or go swimming. Because we spend nine months in the womb before birth, many people feel safe in the water. Drinking water can help relax the body, but you can also try walking by the water and listening to its rumble. During stressful times, you can also find that swimming or bathing is really soothing.
- Use essential oils. When you pamper yourself, you can use essential oils to relieve the effects of stress on the body. They are derived from natural sources such as plant leaves, petals, and, in some cases, plant roots. The oils can be used to help you relax by diffusing them or burning them in candles around your home.
What is a good self-care routine, and how do I build one? How do I get started with daily self-care?
First, think about the things that make you happy and relaxed. It could be reading a book, going for a walk, or taking a warm bath. Make a list of these activities that you enjoy.
Next, find time in your day to do these activities. It could be in the morning, during breaks, or before bedtime. Pick a time when you can focus on self-care without feeling rushed.
Start small by trying one or two activities from your list each day or week. As you get used to it, you can add more activities and make your routine longer. Remember, self-care is about being kind to yourself. If something doesn’t feel right, try something else. You should do what makes you happy and relaxed.
Make self-care a priority by setting boundaries. Let your family and friends know that this time is important to you. It’s okay to say no to other things and make time for yourself.

What are the signs of a lack of self-care?
- Feeling tired all the time. When we don’t take care of ourselves, we may feel exhausted a lot. Our body is telling us it needs rest to feel better.
- More stress and worry. If we don’t take care of ourselves, we might feel more stressed and worried. Everyday problems can become overwhelming and hard to handle.
- Not feeling well physically. Not taking care of ourselves can make us less healthy. We might get sick more often, have a weak immune system, or have other health problems because we don’t eat well, exercise, or rest enough.
